I forgot to include the pix of the birthday balloons
and presents.
I just love all the colors!

Happy 11th Birthday!

Well, it was a busy weekend in our house,
since my daughter had a sleepover
birthday party!
Can't believe she is 11 years old!
And as you can see taking pix was a challenge.
These girls would not sit still!
I guess I did capture the energy of preteen girls!

The theme was rainbows,
which kind of came together by accident.
I was really just going for lots of bright colors.

She got lots of great gifts and no sleep,
so it was a success!

Favorite Things

 I'm dreaming of spring lately,
so I thought I'd show off
my paper doll collection
all dressed for spring!

These are modeled after the Flatsy dolls!
They are my favs!

And, these are Kiddle paper dolls.
The clothes are a bit more babyish,
but still so cute!

Make Your Own Flower Loom

Before I was able to find a vintage flower loom
I devised my diy version
that works great for simple flower loom flowers.
I love my vintage looms,
because they are so versatile.
But I still use my diy version
to make a bigger sizes than I can with the vintage.
So here goes.

You will need:
*Cutting mat
*Exacto knife
*Foam core (corugated cardboard might work
but wouldn't be as sturdy)
*Nails with no heads
*Pen or pencil
* Something round to use as a template

I used a vintage flower loom as my template.
It measures about 4 1/2 - 5 inches across.

It's easier to cut out one corner at a time
rather than the whole circle at once.
And it doesn't have to be perfect!

It really helps to have an inside circle,
for when it comes time to weave the middle of the flower.
This is also when you should mark the nail positions,
twelve evenly spaced.

 Add numbers 1-12.

Insert the nails at the tick marks.

Now you can make flowers galore!
For a tutorial on that go to this great site.

Science Fair

Last week my little girl (that's her on the right)
had a science project for the science fair
at school.
She worked on it with one of her best friends
(that's her on the left).
They chose an experiment on freezing water
and they had lots of fun doing it!

Oh, well, anyway...

Thrifty Finds

My latest finds at the thrift include this purrrfect
kitty kat bubble bath bottle!
I've seen these before,
but they were always too expensive.
This one was only $2!
Then I spotted this amazing vintage suitcase
with a daisy fabric!
I haven't seen this fabric ever,
so I new I had to get it.
It was my birthday gift to myself!
Doesn't it look fabulous sitting on my daisy covered bed?

Favorite Things

I happen to have a pretty good collection of vintage cards started
and I thought I would share some of them now and then.
I'm starting of with some sweet kitten cards
that I got when I was a little girl.
The one above is so sweet
and I love the 3d flowers and ribbon.

And who doesn't love an Easter kitten!

Or a basket of kittens!

This card is from a box of all occasion cards
that I got at the thrift.
A pretty little rose.

Thrifty Finds

I almost missed this adorable little deer figurine
when I was at the thrift.
It was so small it nearly got lost
on a shelf of assorted goodies.
But luckily my radar zeroed in on it!

I've also been finding some cute fabrics
like this faux patchwork.
It's so bright and cheerful!
I know I'll find some perfect project for it.

My favorite, though,
is this vintage round tablecloth.
Check out the orange and pink combo!
Add the pom pom trim
and I was hooked!

Yay! It's my Birthday!
That's me 51 years ago
and I'm still as excited as I was then!
I celebrated by going to the thrift store
and scored some great things.
It was hard knowing I won't be
hearing from my mom this year,
I miss her so much!
But I know she would want me to be happy
and live my life to the fullest.
Which is what I always plan on doing!
