Grand Opening of Pretty Posh Posies!

Today I wanted to announce the opening of my new shop:

It's been open for awhile, quietly, but I wanted to wait till I got a

few more pieces in before I made it official!

Eventually, I will close down the "Happy as a Lark" shop.

I really wanted to have a fresh start, with a new look and a new name.

My first painting is called, "Chelsea in the Magic Garden"
I wanted this to have a wonderland look to it with the crazy flowers and saturated colors.

Almost like a tapestry.

Which led me to do.......

my next painting, "Alice in Wonderland", the first of my storybook character series.

This is also very colorful and I really love how it turned out!

Next in my storybook series, I chose "Little Red Riding Hood",

with lots of red and pink!

It's sweet with just of hint of the sinister wolf lurking somewhere!

And, Sabrina asked my to do "Mary Quite Contrary" so here she is,

with all her pretty maids in a row!

Lastly is a "little" experiment, using a mini canvas!

Appropriately, it's "Little Bo Peep"!

It measures only 2 1/2" by 3 1/2"!

And how cute it looks on it's little easel!

Please check these out at my new shop!

And, stayed tuned, I have lots of ideas for new items!

Bye for now!

Spring Cleaning!

I love spring! And this spring I've been anxious to get rid of the old and
bring in the new. In this post and the next one, I will tell you about
old things I'm getting rid of and new things that I'm excited about.
This week, I will be showing you my messy family room.
It's messy because I'm getting ready for my first garage sale ever!
This is all the stuff I'm getting rid of.
I want to clear out and make room for things that reflect my new interests,
and to make room for some things that my hubby collected from his parents
house.
Like these cute little vases he made when he was little.

And, records he listened to. I hope to get a record player
from my mom later this summer.

Next, is a beautiful stained glass lamp his grandpa made.

And check out this sweet Snoopy dog he loved as a child!
He is a little worse for the wear, but still so cute!

In my next post, I will talk about the old and new in my artistic life!
bye for now!

A Major Award!

Thank you to Becca of "Magikal Seasons" for nominating me for this award! I'm so flattered! The only catch is you're supposed to list 7 things about yourself and then pass it on to 15 fellow bloggers. I only did five, sorry, but maybe you awardees can do 15! Well, since I already did 10 things about myself, I'll have to come up with seven new ones! Here goes:
1. I'm a huge fan of Dark Shadows, we watched it everyday after school.
2. I used to make pets out of everything, including one of the chickens on our farm, and a daddy long legs spider. ( they didn't know they were my pets, by the way)
3. I thought I saw the Easter bunny's ears and Rudolf's nose when I was little.
4. My maiden name is DesLauriers, so my first name used to be part of my last name.
5. My oldest sister is 15 years older than me.
6. I've always wanted to live near the ocean.
7. I lost about 50 pounds a couple of years ago, and have kept it off.
That's it! Here are my picks:

These are wonderful blogs, so definitely check them out!
Bye for now!

Ten Things

I've decided to try my hand at the "ten things" game, that they are playing at "meet me at mikes" blog! So here goes:

1. I never learned how to swim, and I nearly drowned once.
2. My mom had me when she was 40 and I had Sabrina when I was 40.
3. I worked in Yellowstone National Park and the Sun Valley Lodge in Idaho when I was in college.
4. I'm almost 8 years older than my hubby.
5. I love the British, esp. their accents.
6. I wanted to be an ice skater and go to the olympics.
7. I grew up on a farm, 2 miles from the Canadian border.
8. I love fake cheese products like Kraft mac and cheese deluxe.
9. I remember all my dreams, and I can control them if I really try.
10. I had the same pillow for about 40 years.
Wow! I did it! Hope it isn't too boring!
Bye for now!

The Saturday before Easter we went to a roller rink where my hubby skated as a kid, and Sabrina went skating for the first time! She had a blast! Bye for now!

A Spring in my step!

It's hard not to be happy this time of year! Sabrina is happy cause she's on spring break!

Our kitty Smoke is happy cause the bunny and the ducks are back!
(If you look hard, you can see the bunny hiding in the bush!)

I'm happy cause I don't have to wear a heavy coat!

And, I can enjoy a lovely spring pasta salad!

Hope you're enjoying your spring too!
Bye for now!
