New listings on Lollishops!

The other day my little pixies and fairies returned to me from their visit to Somerset Studios! I was so excited to see them again, they've been away for a few months now. They were in the May/June issue of Somerset Studio magazine. Well, now you can have them come to your home if you go to Lollishops and purchase them! First there is "Love is Devine" (shown below). Here she is in the magazine layout.

Then I've also listed "Spring Romance" fairy.

Here she is in the magazine.

I hope you get a chance to go to Lollishops and check them out! Bye for now!

Thrifty finds Friday

Am trying to get back into the habit of showing my latest thrift store finds, so here goes. This week was a little slow, but I did find this great Pyrex coffee pot. Just love it!Last week, I found a great record and some books! The record is a Dean Martin album, check out the "risque" looks passing between Deano and the blonde! I found an old copy of the book "Mrs. 'Arris goes to Paris". It has great art on the dust jacket. Can't wait to read it!
Then I scored this great vintage book on Bazaars!

It has lots of neat craft projects in bright colors. Very inspiring! These little fish pockets are to go in your purse and hold odds and ends, I like that idea! Well, bye for now!

WAYBACK Wednesday!

I've decided to make Wednesday, WAYBACK day, in honor of Mr Peabody and Sherman. Check this out:

Every Wednesday, I will show you some great mid century modern illustrations. To start I have one of my childhood books, "The Three Little Pigs". The illustrators are Jack and Lousie Myers.

I love how they used so many bright colors, ever for the sky. Check out that butter churn below.

!

The wolf is so dapper don't you think? Bye for now!

What a weekend!

This has been a busy Memorial Day weekend, but today we stayed home to relax and do a few things around the house. On Sat. we went to the Como Zoo in St. Paul MN. It's a very old zoo in the middle of a lovely park. In the last couple of years, they have updated and added a new visitors center. Below is a water lily in the pool in front of the center. Here, Sabrina and I are waiting for the center to open. We got there early to get a parking space.

First thing we saw in the zoo were some beautiful pink flamingoes that you see behind Sabrina.

I thought she should do a pose like a flamingo, since she was all pink too!

Next we saw orangutans,
and a giraffe family.

Aren't they beautiful?

After visiting the animals, we went to the conservatory. What a wonderful place! And, boy does it smell wonderful too!

Check out this huge lilly!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

41!

Yesterday we celebrated my hubby's 41st birthday with a cookout. Sabrina enjoyed her play area that we recently renovated. We added new rock, new steps and other structural reinforcements.
You can see the she is head over heels about it!
Here she is modeling on the new stairway!
This was the first time we had really used the deck this spring and we found a robin nest under the deck balcony! I was able to get a picture of the babies in their nest.
Hubby was master of the grill and provided hamburgers and brats.
I supervised.
He was pretty excited to fire up the ole weber (as in 15 years old!).

Happy Birthday Honey!!

gardening with fairies and gnomes

This past weekend I was busy gardening with the fairies and the gnomes! First we made a new little garden for Sabrina where a maple tree used to be. I planted russian sage in the back, yarrow in the middle and stonecrop in the front. Then I added a few fairies.

In the back garden I only added one new plant, a yarrow, and then the gnomes added a little gazebo to have a picnic with the fairies. Or maybe it's a potting shed, I mean look at that wheel barrow full of clay pots! Either way, it looks lovely!

Then they made a little stone path that leads to the arches. Look at that gnome sleeping on the job!
I think they did a great job, don't you? Now if I could just get them to do the weeding!

Oh, and guess who else showed up! He seemed to think the garden could use some vegetables. But then, he just wants a free dinner! bye for now!

Exciting times! Part 1

It's been so busy around here that I have lots to let you know about! First of all, I finally got my copy of Lisa Kettell's book Altered Art Circus, and I got to see my pixie in it! How exciting!

I thought she did a great job of photographing it, and I love all the projects she had in there!

I've also been featured on the blog Glitter and Grunge, which was so flattering! If you go there, I'm actually a couple of stories down, I was a little slow to get this on my blog.
Yesterday, we went out and I wanted to make a pendant to go with this top. This is what I came up with, what d'ya think?
Of course, we went to Barnes and Noble, and I found a book in the used book section. Very few of their stores have used book sections, I wish they all did! Well, more to tell, but bye for now!
